Electromatic is a short film I wrote and directed in 2016, inspired by the passing of my grandfather. It is a reflection on his continuing desire for connection even as he began to lose the ability to distinguish his memories from his current reality.
The film premiered in November 2016 at the Indie Memphis Film Festival, and went on to have a successful run at small festivals. It made its online premiere at Film Shortage in 2018, and is now available to stream. The synopsis is below, followed by a trailer for the film.
An elderly grandfather sneaks out for one final night of freedom, and surprises his grandson. When the old man tries to pass down his old guitar, it turns into a pivotal moment for both of them.
